What am I going to do...
about this cough? I'm probably 3 weeks behind in training for missing a week being this sick! I'll be lucky to even show up for the race, let alone run it. I can't sleep because I cough so much. My ears are plugged. I'm SO tired. I want to get out there, but I can't even go up the stairs without getting short of breath.

That'll learn me...
So I ate everything I could pick up and put in my mouth yesterday. I SO paid for it today! We did 13.5 km from the Langley Running Room and I swore near the end that my legs would shatter if I so much as took one more step. I also didn't get a very good night's sleep and I think I was dehydrated. Lesson learned.
13.18km (but my watch switched off after 90 min, so I think it was actually closer to 13.5km)
7.23 km/min avg pace
1:37:23 total time
Raining, bad night's sleep, bad eating the previous day, overslept this morning. I'm surprised I didn't give up!

Frustrated
This weather is getting me down. I dress for it, that's not the issue. It's that sometimes it's SO cold and it just won't stop snowing. I just want to run when it's reasonably sunny, not snowing and not windy. Is that really too much to ask? Apparently.

December 1, 2009 Run
I found last night's run to be really hard on my legs. I suppose it's the Canadian version of running on the beach. There were quite a few spots along the route that had a lot of loose snow, which made it exhausting on my lower legs. I knew it would be hard, but I didn't think it would be that hard. Those spikes are awesome, though! I didn't slip once and they stayed on.
By the end of the run, I found my negative self-talk to be pretty intense again. The mental mountain is happening now like it did when I was doing the 10km training. When I saw the Run 5min/Walk 1 min point in that training, I didn't think I could do it. I did it, but it was hard to wrap my mind around being able to do it and not give up. I went home and posted on FB that "Things I thought were impossible for me are not anymore." By the end of last night's run, I was feeling better because I finished and didn't give up. The usual catch-22, right?
I'm glad that Neil started the group blog. I hope that this group can keep in touch and keep up for the next race. I don't necessarily want to run another half (but we'll see), but I really like having someone(s) to run with. Keeps me honest.

Distance: 4.54 km
Time: 30:34:51
Avg Pace: 6:44 (!)
Mind: Good, by the end. Lots of "I can't do this, let's walk" about 2km (15 min) - the usual.
Body: Tired. Don't think I ate enough during the day. Heartburn about halfway through for a few minutes.
